Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2003 after obtaining a doctorate in law from the Pantheon-Sorbonne University in 2002, Astrid Mignon Colombet, who is also a graduate of the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques (1996) joined Soulez Larivière & Associés in 2004. She was made a partner in 2011 and Managing partner since 2016.
Astrid’s sophisticated understanding of legal techniques and her awareness of the diversity of intricate and complex human issues can be traced back to the first years of her career. After completing an internship with the US law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, she worked on a research thesis while also lecturing over a five-year period at Panthéon Sorbonne University (law of obligations) and at Panthéon Assas University (company law). She presented her thesis in 2002, and then worked with Bernard Hémery and Patrice Spinosi, attorneys pleading before France’s highest courts (Conseil d’Etat, Cour de Cassation) from 2003 to 2004.
Astrid Mignon Colombet has considerable expertise in white collar crime, aviation, industrial disasters and commercial litigation. Over the past eleven years, she has become a recognised expert in crisis management and in handling multifaceted criminal cases, which often have an international dimension and involve specialist areas of the law, such as maritime or environmental law. One example of this type of complex case is the sinking of the oil tanker Erika. She is also regularly asked to work on cases in the civil aviation and military aviation sectors, including cases involving multiple parties, such as airline operators and manufacturers. She took on the defence of public officials in the Concorde crash case, working alongside Daniel Soulez Larivière. They obtained the dismissal of two charges and then a full acquittal in 2012. On the back of this experience, Astrid Mignon Colombet frequently advises on complex questions relating to European and international regulations.
Another of Astrid’s practice areas is white collar crime, such as bribery of foreign public officials, industrial espionage and breach of trust. More specifically, she has handled a number of cases of cross-border corruption, and has negotiated deferred prosecution agreements in conjunction with US attorneys. Also of particular interest are issues associated with the Blocking Statute and the non bis in idem principle (double jeopardy rule).
At the same time, Astrid Mignon Colombet is responsible for civil liability cases that raise new legal issues, such as the ‘precautionary principle’ (injury caused by power lines), ‘reckless endangerment’ and compensation for ‘mental distress due to fear of future disease’, which was at the crux of group litigation handled by the firm between 2008 and 2013.
She also advises companies on industrial and criminal risk prevention strategies.
Astrid Mignon Colombet published L’Exécution forcée en droit des sociétés (Specific performance under company law) in 2004 (Editions Economica), and is one of the authors of Deals de Justice, Le marché américain de l’obéissance mondialisée (Plea agreements, the American market for global compliance), edited by Antoine Garapon and Pierre Servan-Schreiber (PUF, 2013).
She is also the author of a number of articles, including:

Astrid Mignon Colombet is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and an officer on its Criminal Law Committee.
